I'm trying to reformat my ASUS laptop and reinstall Windows 11 using a USB drive that I created with Rufus. However, when I boot from the USB, I can only see the recovery partitions and the USB drive itself, but not my SSD. If I unplug the USB and restart, Windows boots up normally. Am I missing something, or is there a security setting that prevents me from accessing or overwriting the SSD?

Another thing you might want to try is using Diskpart to manually delete existing partitions from the SSD. You can access Diskpart from the Windows bootable USB. Just make sure you're careful, as this will remove all data from the SSD.
Before making any changes, always back up your important data first. BIOS changes can sometimes lead to unexpected results, so it’s a good practice to have a full backup just in case.
It sounds like the issue might be related to your BIOS settings. Check if the IRST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) is enabled and try changing it to standard AHCI mode. If AHCI isn't available, head over to the laptop's support page, download the IRST drivers, and load them during setup when prompted to select where to install Windows.
