Looking for Recommendations on a Reliable Work-from-Home Computer

Hey everyone! I'm currently using an ACER all-in-one that I bought at the beginning of the pandemic. It's done the job, but now after 5 years, it's really slow to start up, and sometimes it just won't boot at all. The screen stays blank even though it seems to be powered on. I'm in need of a dependable computer for working from home that starts quickly and can last me at least six years. Any recommendations? Thanks a bunch!

You should download hdtune.exe and run some tests on your current drive. If you're seeing any performance drops or it's running slower than 100MB/s, it's time to upgrade to an SSD. It's often the hard drive that causes these delays!

Lenovo Thinkpads are a solid choice for work-from-home setups. I've had a few, and I've found them quite reliable. If you're using special software, check the requirements first. Generally, a Core i5 or Ryzen 5 with 16GB RAM should handle most tasks. Also, think about getting one with a USB-C port since more devices are moving to that standard. If you're leaning towards a desktop, similar specs apply!

Honestly, any new computer you buy today should easily meet your requirements for the next several years! Just make sure to choose a reputable brand and decent specs, and you should be good to go!

You might want to consider swapping out the hard drive in your current computer for a solid-state drive (SSD), if it's compatible. That could really speed things up! What's the model of your ACER? Feel free to share some pictures if you like!

The model is an Aspire C24!
