Is Upgrading to a 5800XT from a 3600X a Good Move?

Hey everyone! I've recently upgraded to an RTX 5070 and I'm looking for a budget-friendly upgrade for my Ryzen 3600X. Ideally, I'd like to stick with the AM4 platform until AM5 comes out. However, the 5700X3D is currently out of my price range. I noticed that I can get a 5800XT for around $140 on Amazon. Do you think this is a smart upgrade? Here are my current specs: RTX 5070, Ryzen 3600X, 32 GB of 3200 RAM, and a 750W PSU.

Definitely, upgrading to the 5800XT from the 3600X would be a solid move. Just a heads up, if you're using the stock cooler, you might want to look into upgrading that too for better performance.

Got it! I actually have a double tower air cooler, so I should be good with that.

You might want to hold off for Zen 6 on AM5, which is expected next year. However, the 5800X would give you a noticeable boost for your current setup and isn't a bad option in the meantime.

Just so you're aware, AM6 is projected to come after 2027, and AMD is likely to release another generation of AM5 CPUs before making that switch. Just keep the big picture in mind when planning your upgrades.

If that’s the case, I might just wait for prices to drop on something like the 7700X3D instead.
