I'm considering the 990 Pro with a heatsink and wanted to know if there's a significant difference compared to the model without one. Right now, only the version with the heatsink is available on Amazon. Should I buy it or hold out for the heatsink-free one? Any advice would be really helpful, thanks!

Honestly, I’d just go for the heatsink version and not think twice about it. It’s probably the best choice for peace of mind.
Having a heatsink on the 990 is beneficial, especially during heavy tasks like video editing or running AI models. It helps keep the memory controller cool, which can improve performance during prolonged use and potentially extend the drive's lifespan. You won't face significant issues without it in casual use, but if your workload is demanding, the heatsink might be a wise investment.
I was curious too since my motherboard already has a heatsink. But only the heatsink version is on sale right now. I wonder if the motherboard's heatsink would outperform the one that's built-in to the SSD. My mobo is an Asus TUF B850.
This might be the best plan!
