Trouble Connecting My Apple Pencil to iPad Pro 2nd Gen

I'm having a tough time getting my Apple Pencil to connect with my iPad Pro 2nd Gen (Model A2068). When I attach the pencil, the iPad recognizes it initially and tries to connect, but it always fails. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps: force restarting with Bluetooth toggled off and on, switching airplane mode on and off, ensuring the iPad is updated, resetting network settings, and even factory resetting the iPad. I even bought a brand new Apple Pencil, but still no luck. After the factory reset, the way my iPad recognizes the pencil changed too. Previously, it would display a grey oval with "Apple Pencil" blinking at the top; now it just shows a rotating image of the pencil and freezes my screen for a bit while trying to connect. This happens with both my old and new pencils. I'm really at my wits' end here before I consider selling the iPad.

Have you checked compatibility? Sometimes it’s not obvious. Apple has a compatibility page that outlines which iPads work with which pencils. Also, make sure your iPad is fully charged; a low battery could cause connection issues. Best of luck!

Yeah, I looked it up, and my iPad should be compatible with that pencil since it worked fine for years. Thanks for the tip about the battery though!

It sounds super frustrating! If you've already reset and tried everything else, it might be a hardware issue, especially since it freezes. Maybe consider reaching out to Apple Support directly? They might be able to help further or suggest a repair.

I might have to do that; I just hope they don't suggest buying a new iPad! Thanks for the advice!
