I accidentally downloaded a .pptx file that I thought was a PDF from an email. I don't recognize the sender, and I'm worried it might be a scam. I ran an antivirus scan on my mobile phone but didn't find anything. The file doesn't appear in my files app, and I never opened it, which makes me suspicious. Could this have installed spyware or something similar? I really need some help figuring this out.

It's unlikely that the .pptx file would install spyware unless you opened it. If it’s not showing up on your phone, there’s a good chance it was just a harmless download that didn’t complete. If you're using a work email, consider checking with your IT department—they might have sent it as a phishing test.
If you're concerned about malware, just keep an eye on your phone for any suspicious activity. Make sure your anti-virus is up to date and consider using a malware detection app just to be safe. And avoid opening suspicious attachments in the future!
.pptx is just a PowerPoint file format, so it’s not inherently dangerous unless you open it and enable certain features. You probably didn't open it, which is good. Check your files app for a recent files section or search option—it might be hiding there or could have been deleted automatically.
