I've been looking into the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 5 7600X, and I'm puzzled. Despite the significant price difference ($460 vs. $160) and the fact that both have a clock speed of 4.7GHz, the 9800X3D doesn't seem to visibly outperform the 7600X. Can anyone explain why that might be?

Just a guess, but you're probably running into a GPU bottleneck here. If that’s the case, the higher-end CPU won't shine much since it's waiting for the GPU to keep up.

That makes sense, thanks for clarifying!

It’s possible that you're GPU bound, which means the graphics card is the limiting factor in your performance. The 9800X3D definitely has advantages in CPU-heavy tasks and gaming, but if your setup is primarily relying on the GPU, you might not see a huge difference between the two CPUs.

Yeah, I think that’s likely. If your GPU can’t keep up with the CPU, you won’t notice much change.

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D does outperform the 7600X, but it’s crucial to clarify what exactly you’re comparing. Are you looking at benchmarks in different scenarios? Please share more details so we can help figure out what’s going on!

I’ll check and provide some benchmarks that I’ve looked at.

Honestly, it seems like you might just not have enough data to make a solid comparison. Have you tried running specific benchmarks for both CPUs? That might give a clearer picture.
