Hey everyone! We're currently using oVirt at my company, but it seems like the project is slowing down, so we're on the hunt for a different solution. We're interested in finding something that's open source and free, but we're a bit hesitant about OpenStack because it seems overly complex for our needs. We have about 30 hosts and around 600 virtual machines to manage. Any recommendations or insights on what we could use instead? Thanks a lot!

I get where you're coming from. Given your scale, it might be worth considering enterprise software instead of trying to manage everything with open source. If you have in-house expertise, then KVM with Ansible could be a good match, but you'll need a strong team to maintain it. Just something to think about before diving into OSS options.
Proxmox could definitely fit your needs, or you might want to check out Incus. Your choice might depend on your hardware setup, though!
What do you mean by hardware strategy? Is it not the other way around?
