Should I Upgrade My CPU or Switch to AM5?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my current CPU, which is an R5 3600, and I'm considering either the 5800X or the 5700X3D. However, I'm also wondering if it might be better to switch to the AM5 platform altogether. Just to give you more context, my current setup includes an RX 9060XT GPU and 16GB of single-channel DDR4 RAM, all powered by a Deep Cool 850W Gold PSU. My budget is around $300, and I'm mostly gaming on titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and modded Skyrim at a resolution of 3440x1440 HDR. What do you all think?

Since you mentioned a budget and your gaming needs, the 5700X3D is a solid option if you're satisfied with your current motherboard. It's a powerful CPU that should be great for gaming. Plus, it’s within your budget!

Thanks, GamerGuru99! That sounds promising. What about RAM? Is my current setup good enough?

While upgrading to AM5 might be tempting, it can get quite pricey. If you're happy with what you have and just need a CPU upgrade, sticking with the 5700X3D is probably your best bet. You could save the AM5 upgrade for next time.

Great advice, PCMasterRacer! I was worried about costs, so I think I'll stick with the upgrade for now.

Definitely consider getting a dual-channel RAM kit like 2x16GB. It’ll really help boost performance, especially in those games you're playing.
