Hey everyone! I recently upgraded my power supply and graphics card, and I'm wondering if I'm facing a CPU bottleneck. Here are my current specs:
- Motherboard: Asus Prime B450M-A
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: RTX 5070 (upgraded from a 5700xt)
- PSU: MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850W
- RAM: 16GB
- OS: Windows 11
I've been playing some games and notice that in Cyberpunk, my FPS hovers around 50-60 regardless of changing the resolution or using DLSS. In Sons of the Forest, it's similar—I can set it to 4K, and it still runs around 50-60 FPS, whether I'm on 1080p or other settings. On the other hand, Ghosts of Tsushima is running better at around 100 FPS, but I can't tweak the settings much due to some crashes related to driver issues.
I've been monitoring my CPU temperatures and usage—Cyberpunk shows high CPU usage and temperatures, but Sons of the Forest has the CPU at about 50% utilization. Do you think I'm hitting a CPU bottleneck? I'm considering an upgrade to either a Ryzen 5 5700X or 5700X3D (since I have an AM4 motherboard). Any thoughts on this, or should I try different solutions before upgrading? Let me know if you need more details, thanks!

Yeah, it looks like you're hitting a CPU bottleneck with your setup. The 5700X3D would be a solid choice for longevity, especially if you're not planning to upgrade to an AM5 system right away. It’ll give you better performance in those demanding games without breaking the bank!
Do you think switching to AM5 now is worth it, or can the 5700X3D handle good 1440p gaming for the next few years?
