Why is my Crucial T705 SSD so slow?

Hey everyone! I'm using a Crucial T705 SSD as my main drive for a Windows 11 setup. I've got 128GB of DDR5 RAM and a Ryzen 9950X running on an ASRock X570 Steel Legend motherboard. However, I'm feeling really let down by the SSD speeds. This is my first SSD with high performance claims, but in practice, the speed rarely even reaches half of what's advertised. The fastest speed I've seen during tasks is only around 20-30% of its top capacity. For instance, when I'm compressing a 130GB folder with 7-Zip, the speed is just 59MB/s! Even copying files or installing programs rarely exceeds 1GB/s. While I get that benchmarks look good, my real-world performance is far from impressive. Is this normal behavior for this SSD, given that it's installed in a Gen 5 PCIe slot, or is there something I can do to improve it?

I noticed that your SSD is idling at 60-64°C, which seems quite high. That's not uncommon if your M.2 slot is located right under a GPU without proper airflow. You might want to consider adding a fan or swapping in a better heatsink, like the Thermalright HR10 Pro, to help keep it cooler and potentially improve performance.

Good to know! I'll look into cooling solutions for sure. Thanks for the tip!
