Should I choose an RX 6600 or an RTX 3050 for gaming on a budget?

I'm looking to upgrade from my GTX 1060 to a new GPU since I want to play Red Dead Redemption 2 at about 60fps on medium or low settings. I've found an RTX 3050 for $220 and an RX 6600 for $285. Given my tight budget, is it worth spending more on the RX 6600 for better performance, or should I save some cash and go for the RTX 3050 instead? Also, I'd love to know if getting extra RAM is important or not.

If you can swing it, definitely go for the RX 6600! It's around 30% faster than the RTX 3050, which can make a big difference in gaming performance. Plus, for a game like Red Dead Redemption 2, that extra power will help you hit those 60fps targets smoothly. While the RTX 3050 is more affordable, the performance just isn't as strong. Also, don't worry too much about extra RAM for now if you already have 8GB; that's generally enough for most games. Just keep your eyes open for any good deals!

I agree with you, but sometimes it's good to check out the used market if you're tight on budget. If you can find something like an RTX 2070 Super for under $180, you'd get similar performance to the RX 6600XT.
