I've got this SSD that's a few years old and I can't remember if anything unusual happened to it before. The strange thing is, it's not showing up in Disk Management, but I can still hear it speeding up. Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening? Could it be a bad SATA cable or something else?

It's odd that you can hear an SSD since they don't have any moving parts. There are a few things to consider: the drive might be failing, the SATA cable could be bad, or the port on your motherboard might have an issue. I would recommend plugging the SSD into a different computer to see if it gets recognized there. If it does, back up any important data and try reformatting it. Keep in mind that if it’s been unplugged for a while, you might have lost some data.
Right? If you hear something, it might not be healthy. Better to replace it soon.
If you can actually hear it, that's a red flag. You should probably think about replacing it. Just make sure to backup your files first if you can get it working again. Better to be safe than sorry!
Agreed! Not worth risking important files over a faulty drive.
Exactly, SSDs should ideally be silent. Better keep an eye on that!
Good advice! I’d definitely check if it shows up in BIOS too before you change out components.
