Help Installing Nvidia 390 Drivers on AnduinOS

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new to the Linux scene, having just started a couple of months ago. I recently got my hands on an old Quadro 5000, which I'm planning to use to set up a retro gaming rig in my living room. I'm trying to install the Nvidia 390 drivers using the .run file since the drivers in the repositories are too outdated for my setup. However, I'm running into issues; every time I attempt to run the file, it prompts me to stop my X Server (which is using GNOME). But when I try stopping it with systemctl, even in terminal mode (F3), I just end up with a blank shell and a blinking cursor. I really can't use the Nouveau drivers for gaming, so I'd appreciate any help you can offer!

Just a tip: Remember to mention your distro alongside any error messages for better assistance! Are you sure you want to use the .run file? There might be simpler methods if you're on a compatible distro; usually, drivers from the repos work better for newer setups.

I understand your struggle! The 390 drivers can be quite tricky to install on modern distros because they need a lot of patching. It would help to know what version of Ubuntu AnduinOS is based on, since that can affect compatibility with the drivers.

It's based on Ubuntu 24.04, which is LTS and supposed to be stable till 2029. It uses GNOME 46 and a Linux kernel of 6.11. But, unfortunately, that doesn't help much with the older drivers.
