Why Does Google Maps Show My Location as ‘Offline’ on My iPhone?

Hey folks! I share my location with my parents using the 'Share your location' feature in Google Maps on my iPhone. I've set everything up: location access is set to 'Always', background refresh is on, precise location is enabled, and I don't have low power mode turned on. Despite all that, my parents see my location as 'Offline' most of the time. The weird part is that my internet works fine, I have location services fully activated, and I'm usually walking around with my phone in my pocket. It seems to only show my live location when I manually open the Maps app or it randomly updates, which isn't very helpful for passive sharing. Is there any way to keep my location updating in real-time even when my iPhone is locked? Thanks for any help!

It sounds like your GPS signal might struggle when your phone is in your pocket. Google Maps could also limit location tracking in the background to save battery life. You might want to try using the built-in iPhone location sharing feature, which is designed to keep tracking even when the app isn't open.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing! Even when my phone is on a desk, sometimes the location still doesn't update properly.
