Hey everyone! I'm trying to build a PC for around £1000, mainly for gaming and video editing. I've heard a lot of negative feedback about the current generation of GPUs and I'm looking for some guidance. Here's my current build list from PCPartPicker:

- **CPU Cooler**: Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 EVO 68.9 CFM - £16.99
- **Motherboard**: MSI PRO B550M-VC WIFI Micro ATX - £86.11
- **Memory**: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB DDR4-3600 - £56.98
- **Storage**: Kingston NV3 1 TB NVME SSD - £50.99
- **Video Card**: PowerColor Reaper Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB - £329.99

Have you considered an AM5 build? It's cheaper and can give you great performance for both gaming and video editing. Here's a suggested build:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 4.7 GHz 6-Core - £127.99
- **CPU Cooler**: Thermalright Assassin King SE ARGB - £19.00
- **Motherboard**: Asus PRIME B650-PLUS WIFI ATX - £119.99
- **Memory**: Silicon Power XPOWER 32 GB DDR5-6000 - £86.99
- **Storage**: TEAMGROUP MP44L 1 TB NVME SSD - £49.99
- **Video Card**: Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB - £319.00
- **Case**: Montech AIR 903 BASE ATX - £49.99
- **Power Supply**: Phanteks AMP 650 W - £89.99
- **Monitor**: MSI G2422C 24" 180 Hz - £89.00
**Total**: £951.94. It's a bit more future-proof, and would be a solid choice for your needs!
Just a thought: how crucial is video editing for you? If it's a significant part of what you're doing, you might want to lean towards a CPU with more cores, like the Ryzen 7 series. The 7600X is fine for casual editing but may struggle under heavier workloads. Also, consider going with an NVIDIA GPU for better performance in video editing software!
Not a job for me; just a film student here, so that’s why I'm on a bit of a budget!
Thanks for the suggestion! If I wanted to upgrade later on, would going for a Ryzen 5 9600X be a good option?
