My Linux is Frozen! What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a jam here. My Linux system has completely frozen up on me—only the mouse pointer is still moving but I can't click on anything or use my keyboard. I'm really hesitant to force a shutdown since I've had issues with tty1 errors before. I'd appreciate any advice or solutions you might have. Thanks!

Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2. That might bring up a terminal prompt which can help you troubleshoot. Also, it would be great to know what Linux distribution and desktop environment you’re using for better advice!

I forced a shutdown and rebooted. Then I tried Ctrl+Alt+F2 but I was worried I messed things up! Thankfully, everything’s okay now. Thanks for the tip!
