Hey everyone! I'm in the process of building a new PC and I'd love some advice on the specs, particularly which motherboard I should pair with my Ryzen 9 9950x3d CPU. I'm also looking at getting an RTX 5070 ti or possibly the 5080 for my GPU. I bought 64 GB of RAM since I'll be doing some serious software programming and 3D rendering. What motherboard do you recommend for this setup? Should I consider switching to an AMD GPU, like the RX 9060 XT? Thanks! Oh, and I'm leaning towards an 870 series motherboard.

When choosing a motherboard, a lot depends on what other hardware you'll connect and any future expansion plans. Your GPU choice should really align with the software you plan to use, as that can dictate performance needs. Just keep that in mind as you decide!
You’ll want Nvidia for your workload, especially since the RTX 5070Ti and 5080 are solid choices for performance. Just keep an eye on thermal management with whatever you choose!
For the Ryzen 9 9950x3d, I’d avoid ASRock motherboards entirely. They seem to have issues with power management on x3D processors, and there are reports of them running hot, which isn’t great for longevity.
Interesting! What kind of issues are we talking about? I’ve noticed AMD GPUs are generally cheaper than NVIDIA, so that could sway my decision.
Yeah, I get that. I was mostly referring to the GPU and maybe a power supply, thinking around 1200W for stability.
