Best Practices for Relaying High Volume Emails through M365

Has anyone successfully relayed a large volume of emails through M365? I'm exploring options for moving the transactional email process of our organization, which currently sends about 10,000 emails a day to clients via a third-party relay service, directly into M365. We would prefer not to set up a hybrid Exchange environment. The potential benefits include simplifying mail flow, having centralized tools for monitoring emails, and applying DLP policies uniformly across all emails. I've considered M365's High Volume Sender preview, but that limits us to 2,000 emails per day externally. Azure Communication Services has been mentioned, but it seems limited to Teams and chats. Additionally, I thought Azure Logic Apps might help, but I'm unclear about any sending limits with that method. Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you're currently on the right path by using a third-party service for sending high volumes of transactional emails. Microsoft isn't really designed for heavy email traffic like that, and even the High Volume Sender option is more tailored for larger organizations' internal use, not for heavy transactional emailing. Plus, keeping those high-volume emails separate from your regular office emails is a smart move to avoid deliverability issues and potential disruptions to your M365 tenant.

Actually, Microsoft is expanding their capabilities for this type of emailing. The High Volume Email preview now allows sending up to 100k emails per day, plus you can use basic SMTP without needing a dedicated account. It’s worth checking it out if you're considering this transition!
