Do I Need to Wipe All My Disks When Resetting Windows?

Hi everyone! I'm thinking about doing a complete reset of my Windows OS and all my disks because I suspect there might be some malware on my system. I've tried everything I can to find and delete any potentially infected files, but now I'm ready for a fresh start. What are the best ways to reset my drives completely while reinstalling Windows? I'm looking for an option that's as effective as DBAN if that's possible. Thanks for any help!

Totally get why you'd want to do a full wipe! Just be careful with those SSDs though—DBAN won't help with those. Make sure you’ve got backups of anything important before going full wipe mode!

If you're okay with losing everything on your disks, then yeah, definitely wipe them clean! Nuke the drives and you’ll be set. Just a heads up, DBAN is usually recommended, but I haven’t used it recently, so I’m not sure of any updates that might have come out. Just remember, though, that DBAN doesn’t work for SSDs.

If you think there’s malware on your computer, it's definitely a good idea to wipe your disks. Start by using the Disk Manager to remove partitions on your other drives. Then, create a bootable USB installer for Windows 11 using another PC. During the installation, you can remove all partitions, which will allow Windows to create the necessary one for itself. After that, you can set up your other partitions in the Disk Manager once you're up and running with Windows.
