I'm planning to change the krbtgt password soon, but I'm worried because my company hasn't updated it since 2017. We still have some very old service accounts that no one really understands or remembers how they operate. Some of their passwords are ancient, and I'm concerned that when these accounts try to authenticate after the krbtgt password change, they might run into issues because of newer security protocols. Should I be worried about this?

You should be fine! It's well documented that you can change the krbtgt password without causing issues. Just go ahead and do it up.
