What GPU Should I Upgrade To For a Major Performance Boost?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC for a significant performance increase, but I'm unsure about the best route to take. Ideally, I'm thinking about GPUs around the 4080 or 5070 level, but I need to weigh my options. For context, my current setup includes a 32 GB DDR4 RAM, an i9-11900KF processor, and a 4060 Ti GPU. I'd like to keep my RAM and SSD. If there are cheaper alternatives from AMD, I'd be open to switching. Also, should I consider getting a new motherboard for DDR5?

What's your budget for the upgrade? That’ll help narrow down options!

Budget isn't really a concern since I'm primarily swapping parts, not doing a full rebuild. I'm really just trying to figure out if I need a new motherboard or not.

Gotcha! I'm aiming for around $1500 to $1600 for the entire upgrade, including Windows.

If I were you, I'd suggest keeping your current setup and just upgrading to something like the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT. Your i9 CPU will still hold up pretty well, so you won't need to worry about it bottlenecking your performance.

That’s good to know! Do you think it’s worth it to invest in a new motherboard for DDR5? Also, I’ll definitely need to upgrade my PSU to match the new GPU.

You're spot on! An upgrade to a better graphics card now means you can save the CPU, and later on, you can upgrade the CPU, motherboard, and RAM all at once.
