I managed to lift the battery connector pads while trying to remove the connector. The pads are still attached to the board, but they can move sideways now. Is there any chance I can reattach it to the connector and get my computer powered on again, or what steps should I take?

Honestly, it might be time for a new motherboard. If the pads are moving sideways, they could be too damaged for a reliable connection.
What kind of device are we talking about? If you could provide some details or pictures, that would help a lot!
It's an Asus Vivobook 15, model F1405Z. Here's a picture of the damage: https://preview.redd.it/ltbm8v19mmdf1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9feacf1b122e2fd7636eec59d619eb633f0d7d67
