How can I recover my USB drive after converting it from GPT to MBR?

I was setting up a new PC and mistakenly converted my USB flash drive from GPT format to MBR. In the process, I ended up deleting all the data on it. I followed some online advice to switch the formats, thinking it would help with my OS installation issues. Now my USB stick seems unusable, and I'm worried it's ruined. Is there a way to revert it back to GPT without losing my data? I really don't want to buy a new flash drive when I already have this one.

If you're having trouble reverting it back with tools like MiniTool Partition Wizard or Windows Management, it might be that your USB is a fake. A lot of counterfeit flash drives out there can behave strangely. Sorry to say, but if it was a fake, you might be out of luck.

You can use the diskpart command to reset the drive back to GPT. Just remember that any data on it will be lost. Since you only had the OS installer on it, it shouldn't be a big deal to put it back on. Just run diskpart and clean the drive, then convert it back to GPT.
