I just got my hands on a MacBook Pro from 2012, and I'm hearing some strange ticking noises coming from it. There's nothing displaying on the screen, just this annoying tick. I'm totally stumped on what to do next! Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'd really appreciate any advice or solutions. Thanks!

Hey! It sounds like you might have a failing hard drive, especially if it's an older model with a traditional spinning hard drive. Sometimes, those noises are a telltale sign. If you can, try to post a video of the noise, it might help narrow down the problem more.

I swapped it out for an SSD. I'll share a video soon!

I’ve had something similar happen where my MagSafe charger turns orange when booting up, and it does take a DVD, but nothing comes up on screen, and the sleep light stays on. It's frustrating! Have you checked the charger or tried resetting the SMC?

When I plug in the charger, I notice the sleep light blinks and there's that ticking sound, too. I got my charger off Amazon, so maybe there's an issue there? Not really sure how to fix this yet, though.
