Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my computer, and since NVIDIA GPUs are quite pricey in my area, I'm considering going with an AMD GPU that fits my budget better. I'm particularly eyeing the RX 7700 XT for my studies in machine learning and deep learning. Do you think this setup would work for AI projects? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

I’ve had success running AI software on my 7900 XTX, but keep in mind that with the RX 7700 XT, you’ll have 8GB less VRAM, which means you’ll likely have to rely more on your system RAM. It’s best to have at least 64GB of RAM to handle larger models—your usage could climb into the 50s on top of maxing out VRAM if you’re pushing it hard!
While you can use AMD GPUs for AI, they're not as optimized as NVIDIA’s. NVIDIA has those handy CUDA cores that really boost performance, and most AI software is designed with their GPUs in mind. If you’re set on AMD, just be prepared for potentially slower speeds and a bit of extra setup hassle due to limited driver support.
True, AI primarily benefits from tensor cores rather than CUDA. I'm not sure if AMD has developed a similar tech, though.
