Hey everyone! I'm reaching out for some guidance as I'm planning an upgrade. Currently, my PC specs are: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, MSI GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER, Seasonic S12III 650W PSU, G.SKILL 16GB RAM, and an MSI B450 Tomahawk motherboard, plus a couple of SSDs and HDDs. This summer, I'm thinking about switching to an RTX 5060 Ti or 5070. My main concern is whether my 650W power supply will be sufficient for this upgrade. I built this PC a few years ago, so I'm unsure about the PSU requirements now. I appreciate any tips or advice you can share!

You should be fine with the 650W PSU. It can handle the new graphics card without any issues. Just make sure you have the right PCI cables available for the 5070.
If you’re worried about the power supply, check out PC Part Picker to estimate wattage. But as for your rig, it looks like it can run the new GPU without needing a total PSU overhaul.
I would definitely consider replacing it. The rating for your PSU isn't great according to some recent reviews, and it's not as reliable as you might want for a high-performance upgrade.
Honestly, it might depend on the particular model of your PSU. Some people have labeled the Seasonic S12III poorly when it comes to reliability. If you're serious about upgrading, you might want to invest in a better power supply for peace of mind.
I'm open to switching brands if needed, but do you suggest getting a higher wattage or just a more reliable model?
Thanks for the reassurance! I have two monitors running at 1920x1080, so I guess I might not even need all that power unless I upgrade to a higher resolution in the future.
