How Can I Use My Headset for Both Sound and Mic on My PC?

I'm struggling to use my headset for gaming because when I plug it into the mic port, I don't get any sound, and when it's in the headset port, the mic doesn't work. Is there a specific adapter I need for this? Can I also use two separate headphones—one for sound and one for the mic, possibly plugging one into my monitor? This is really frustrating!

You should look into getting a headset splitter. It's a small adapter that connects your headset to the PC by combining the audio and mic inputs into a single plug. It's like the opposite of splitting—one end for your mic and one for your headphones! Just search for 'headset splitter' on Amazon, and you'll find plenty of options.

Just a heads-up: try to keep your post titles more descriptive next time! It really helps with getting better responses. But for your issue, definitely a splitter is the way to go.

Check if your headset has three black lines on the plug—that means it’s a combo jack designed for phones or laptops. PCs usually have separate ports for audio and mic, which is why it’s not working for you. A cheap Y splitter will convert that combo jack so you can use both your mic and headphones properly. Plug it into the ports on the back of your PC!
