I was using my Surface tablet while it was charging, and after about 10 minutes, the charger got so hot it burned my hand when I accidentally brushed against it. This has never happened before, so I'm concerned about whether the issue lies with the tablet, the charger, or possibly both. Any thoughts?

It sounds like your charger might have a short circuit. If you have access to another charger, try using that to see if the problem persists. If not, then the charger is likely the culprit.
Electronics usually shouldn't get hot enough to burn you—maybe just warm at most. If it's burning you, that's definitely not normal. I'd say there could be a serious issue with the charger.
