How Can I Boost My PC’s Built-in WiFi Signal?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this, but I could really use your help. I recently built a new PC from parts I got from a specialist, and while it runs smoothly, I'm struggling with the built-in WiFi. The signal range is pretty poor. I heard that USB WiFi dongles can't really compete with built-in ones, so I'd love to find a way to boost the signal instead. I noticed there are two small prongs on the back of my PC that I think are for antennas. Here's what my motherboard looks like: ASUS ROG STRIX X870-F GAMING WIFI (AM5, DDR5, M.2 PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 7).

Just to confirm, are those two prongs brass-colored and threaded? If so, that’s the right spot for the antennas. If they look different, a picture would help! But it sounds like you’re on the right track to boosting that signal.

Those tiny prongs are definitely where the WiFi antennas connect. Your motherboard should have come with a pair of antennas that you can screw onto them! That's usually the easiest fix for better signal strength.

Yep, you really need to attach the WiFi antennas for better reception. That’s probably why your signal is weak! If you’ve misplaced the original antennas, you can find replacements easily online or at a computer hardware store.
