Need Help Choosing a GPU Upgrade!

I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card after a decade. I'm currently using a GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, and I'm looking for a GPU that can handle AAA games at 1440p, ideally reaching 90 to 120 fps (my monitor supports 144 fps). I'm considering three options: the RTX 4070 Super, Radeon RX 9060 XT, and the RX 7800 XT. The 4070 Super is on sale but is significantly more expensive—50% more than the RX 9060 XT, which is touted as a great value. While the 4070 Super is estimated to be about 25-30% faster, I'm not sure if that extra cost is justified. The RX 7800 XT is also an option but at a 40% price increase from the 9060 XT. I would appreciate any insights on these options! Thanks!

Honestly, I'd skip right to the 9070 XT if you're willing to spend a bit more now. Waiting for sales like Black Friday could save you a chunk! It’s worth holding out for the best deal, trust me.

You might want to rethink the RTX 4070 Super since it's no longer in production. The RX 9060 XT is a solid pick for value—great performance and much cheaper than the 4070 Super. However, if you want something for the long haul, consider the RX 9070; it’ll probably give you at least five years before needing another upgrade for 1440p gaming.

Good point! The 9070 is pricier, but maybe it's worth it in the long run.

Dude, the RX 9060 XT is DEFINITELY the way to go if you're looking for value. It'll perform well for 1080p to 1440p without breaking the bank. If you find a killer deal on the RX 7800 XT, it could be worth it too, but make sure you balance that extra cost with the performance gains.

I just saw a 7800XT for $500 CAD. Is that a good price?

What kind of frame rates can I expect at 1440p with the 9060 XT?

If the 7800 XT is 40% pricier than the 9060 XT, I’d lean towards the 9060 unless the performance difference is minimal and the price gap is smaller, like around $100. Always check if you’re looking at the right version, though! Prices can differ between the normal and 16GB editions.

Don't overlook the 7800X3D. It could give you a better experience than the other options you’re considering. Just a thought!
