My girlfriend's iPhone 16 just went completely black while she was using it, and it won't turn back on. We've tried the usual hard reset with the volume and power buttons, and even tried using Siri to restart the phone, but nothing works. The phone was plugged in and had around 30% battery when it died. We really need some quick advice since she's leaving for a road trip tomorrow morning and we can't get to a repair shop. What else can we try on such short notice?

You mentioned trying to force restart it, right? Just to recap: you hit volume up, then volume down, and then press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears. If that didn’t work, it might be a deeper issue. Good luck!
If a hard reset isn’t doing anything, you might want to try putting the iPhone into recovery mode or DFU mode. That might help reset it. However, if it just blacked out during use like that, it could be a serious hardware problem, which might not be fixable. I recommend checking if it's still under warranty. Unfortunately, she might need to buy a new phone if she doesn't want to be without one for the trip.
Yeah, I already mentioned that trying to restart it didn’t work.
