I'm getting my RTX 5080 tomorrow and I'm trying to figure out which CPU would be the best match for it. Any recommendations?

It really depends on your gaming goals. If you're aiming for 1440p at 240fps, you'll need a better CPU than if you're content with 4K at 120fps. What are you planning?

I'm planning to stick to 1440p, nothing lower or higher.

If you're looking to save some cash, go for the 7800X3D. For pure gaming, the 9800X3D is a solid choice. But if you're also into productivity tasks, consider the 9900X or 9950X. For top-notch performance while multitasking, the 9900X3D or 9950X3D is your best bet, though they can get pretty pricey. If you do a lot of streaming while gaming, the 285K is another option, but the 9950X/X3D would be better overall.

For now, you might be fine with something like the 7700 or 9600X since they're both fairly cheap. You can always upgrade later to a more powerful chip when AM5 starts phasing out.

Honestly, the 9800X3D works great with the 5080, especially if you're gaming at 1440p. Plus, it won't break the bank!
