I'm not sure if Linux is the best option for your mom. My gut says she might be better off with Windows 10, despite the security risks. Imagine her calling you for help with Linux-specific issues when she tries to use software that’s only for Windows—that could turn into a headache for you both.
True! There are so many times I've had to deal with my parents' tech troubles. It's almost easier to let them stick with the familiar even if it does come with some risk.
