Why Are My Games Crashing on My New Gaming PC?

I just built a new gaming PC with a Ryzen 9 9800X3D, a 9070XT Nitro+, 32GB of RAM, and a 4TB SSD. I'm facing random crashes while playing most games—sometimes the screen freezes and even the Task Manager is unresponsive, and other times the system just shuts down and restarts by itself. It's really frustrating since I invested a lot into this setup. I'm considering taking it to Geek Squad for repairs, but I'm feeling pretty down about the whole situation because I can't enjoy my games properly.

First off, have you checked your CPU and GPU temperatures? Overheating could be causing those crashes. Also, don't forget to update your motherboard's BIOS and consider resetting everything to factory settings. It's quite possible that your power supply unit isn't handling the load either.

When your system crashes, check the Windows Event Viewer for error messages. It can give you some insight into what's going wrong. That info might help point you towards a solution.

Have you tried running the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool? It can help you rule out any RAM issues that could be causing the instability.

I've heard pretty bad things about Geek Squad. Definitely follow the advice about checking the temps first. And make sure to post your full specs here—there are plenty of people who can help you out way better than them.

Honestly, taking it to Geek Squad should be your last resort. You’ve built this PC yourself, so why not troubleshoot it a bit? It could save you a ton of money! Start by monitoring CPU and GPU temps as well as their clock speeds during gaming.

You make a good point. I feel overwhelmed but I guess I should give it a try.
