I recently breathed new life into an Asus laptop from 2014, and I'm looking for some recommendations on which Linux distro would be best suited for it as a daily driver. The specs are as follows:

- CPU: Intel i3-4030U (4 cores) at 1.800GHz
- GPU: Intel
- RAM: 12GB
- Storage: 500GB SSD

I mainly need it for email, web browsing, office work, and perhaps a card game or two. What would you suggest?

You can't really go wrong with Linux Mint for beginner-friendly use. It's designed to just work and is pretty similar to Windows, so it's a good starting point. You can try out various distros directly from a USB before installing, just to see how they perform with your hardware. Other good options for newbies are Zorin OS and Ubuntu. Just make sure to check if the WiFi and your printer work during that testing phase!

Honestly, most Linux distros should run fine on older hardware like yours. If you want something that feels a bit more familiar to Windows, go for the Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition. If performance is more critical, try the XFCE Edition instead. Mint's based on Ubuntu, but you could also look into Fedora or even Debian if you're comfortable with a bit of manual setup.

For your specs, I think MX Linux or Zorin would be solid choices. They're both lightweight and efficient, perfect for daily tasks like email and web browsing without putting a load on your system.
