How Much of a Performance Boost Will I Get with an Upgrade to AM5 and a 9800x3D?

I'm considering upgrading my setup from an AM4 motherboard with a Ryzen 3600X to an AM5 with a Ryzen 9800X3D along with my current 3070 8GB GPU. Right now, I'm getting around 70-90 fps on low settings in newer games like Marvel Rivals. I've heard that this upgrade should significantly improve performance due to CPU bottlenecking, especially with newer games that rely heavily on the CPU. Can anyone provide insights on how much of a jump in performance I can expect, or if I should also consider upgrading my GPU soon?

I recently upgraded from an Intel i7 to a Ryzen, and I've seen vast improvements in CPU-demanding games. You might still experience some hiccups in high-load situations, but overall it should make a huge difference for you!

You'll definitely notice a significant performance increase, especially at 1080p and 1440p. Just remember, if you stick with the 3070, the system might feel unbalanced due to the CPU upgrade. You might want to plan for a GPU upgrade later on to really take advantage of the new CPU's capabilities.

If you're moving to the 9800X3D, you can expect a significant boost in CPU-intensive games. For example, in a game like Warhammer 3, you could potentially see an increase of at least 30 fps. However, keep in mind, your 3070 GPU may still bottleneck your system. A graphics upgrade might be necessary for the best experience down the line.

Thanks for clarifying! That's a good point about the GPU. I'll need to think about upgrading that as well.

Absolutely, you'll see a massive uplift! If you meant the 9950X3D, it's a more powerful option, but the 9800X3D is a solid pick too. Just keep in mind that at higher resolutions, your performance could still be limited by the GPU. You got a pretty decent deal on that setup for $600, especially with the RAM included!

Great deal indeed! Microcenter really has some good bundles right now.
