Is a 1TB SSD Enough for Gaming?

I'm considering upgrading my SSD to 1TB because my current 230GB isn't cutting it anymore. I mainly play Overwatch, Genshin, and a few smaller games that don't require much space. I also do some video editing, so I think 1TB will be enough for my needs. However, I've heard some people recommend getting at least 2TB since modern games can take up a lot of space. I'm not planning on playing new games anytime soon; I generally stick to the same 5-6 games and usually just watch game playthroughs. Plus, I have a 1TB HDD that I don't use much. I often have to redownload games like Genshin, which is over 100GB, and that takes ages on my internet. I feel like 1TB should be a massive improvement, especially since I'm on a tight budget.

I'd say 1TB is probably enough for what you need, especially if you're not planning to download a ton of new games. You could keep your HDD for media and other files. Just keep an eye on how much space you have if you plan to do any serious video editing.

That sounds like a solid plan! I mostly stick to the same games myself and don’t see needing more storage anytime soon.

Honestly, 1TB should be plenty for your current gaming habits. If you’re mostly playing a few games, you won't fill that up too fast. Just make sure to pick a solid NVMe with a heat sink if you're going that route!

Lol, I might have overdone it with my 16TB of storage! But hey, different needs for different folks, right?

It really boils down to your usage. If you're mostly sticking with a few games, then 1TB is plenty. But if you think you might expand your gaming library, aiming for 2TB might save you some headaches in a year or so.

Exactly! I just got a 4TB drive, and it's comforting to have room to breathe for games and content! But if you're sticking with a few, you'll be fine.

It really depends on your budget. If you're looking to future-proof yourself, I'd recommend going for 2TB. Sometimes you can snag a second-hand 2TB SSD for the price of a new 1TB. Just keep in mind that being safe with storage is wise!

Honestly, future-proofing isn't a total necessity. It really comes down to how much storage you actually need. I know someone who's been fine with a 500GB SSD for over 5 years. Everyone’s usage is different!

I hear you! My main deciding factor was that Steam needs enough space for entire game content when downloading updates. I ended up getting a larger NVMe for that reason.

A 1TB SSD is okay, but if you want the best experience, 2TB is better. Operating systems and games can take up a lot of space. Unless you want to uninstall and reinstall games all the time, I'd say go for the bigger size.
