Hey everyone! I'm in the process of cleaning up my computer after college and I want to uninstall Audacity. When I try to uninstall it through the apps page, I get a prompt needing permission for 'unins000.exe' to make changes, but it says it's from an unknown publisher. This file is located in the Audacity folder under Program Files (x86). Should I go ahead and allow the permission, or is it safer to just delete the entire Audacity folder directly and remove it from my recycle bin? I'm concerned that 'unins000.exe' might be a virus. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Just uninstall it the normal way! If it asks for permission, it’s okay to allow that. Better yet, consider using a program like Revo Uninstaller Free for a cleaner removal—this way, it gets rid of all those leftovers Audacity might leave behind. By the way, have you thought about switching to Tenacity? It's an open-source alternative!
Isn't Audacity open-source already?
