How concerned should I be after sideloading a fake APK?

I accidentally sideloaded an APK while trying to update an app I previously trusted. I got redirected to a misleading website through a pop-up ad, which led to downloading an app that didn't even have a name. I realized my mistake quickly and didn't grant any permissions to the app. After deleting it from my device, I ran AVG and MalwareBytes, which both found nothing. Should I be worried about this?

I wouldn’t worry too much either, especially since you uninstalled it promptly. For better protection down the road, consider using Firefox with uBlock Origin to block any sketchy ads or websites.

Will do; much appreciated!

As long as you didn't give the app any permissions, it shouldn't be able to do much beyond sending basic hardware info to its server. You should be fine!

Thanks for the reassurance! I wanted to be sure because everything I kept finding seemed to be at least a few years old.
