I just saw a notification from Microsoft about them rolling out URL validation for meeting links in Teams invites. From what I gather, this could cause issues with any URL rewriting done by email security solutions, which means that invites might not work anymore. They claim it's to prevent meeting links from being altered by security software in ways that make them unusable or marked as dangerous. But honestly, if this is going to break invites, shouldn't there already be a workaround for those of us using URL rewriting? It sounds like it's just going to complicate things for everyone who relies on it working properly.

We had to turn off URL rewriting on Mimecast because it was messing up Teams invites sent through Outlook.
I'm curious whether this will impact Teams Rooms too. Will they need to be manually whitelisted in Safe Links similar to what Zoom and WebEx require?
I reached out to Microsoft support about this. They couldn't confirm if Safe Links would be affected, but they suggested making sure to whitelist Teams URLs in your Safe Links policy. Seems like some might still break unless precautions are taken.
Appreciate the update from MS support, but it seems a bit too vague. Waiting until September with questions still hanging is risky, especially when it comes to security. Sounds like we need better answers from them.
I get why they want to do this, but it raises a lot of questions. We recently switched to Defender for 365, and I'm not clear if we need to make changes now. Anyone else in the same boat?
