I'm planning to upgrade my graphics card from an RTX 4060 to an MSI RTX 5070 Ti 3X Inspire OC, but I've heard that my current CPU, a Ryzen 5 4500, might bottleneck my new GPU. I'm using an AM4 motherboard and would rather not switch to a new one just yet. A friend suggested the Ryzen 7 5800 XT, but I'd like to know what other options are out there that could work well without causing bottlenecks.

What resolution are you planning to play at? If it's 1080p, pretty much all AM4 CPUs around the $200 mark will have some bottlenecking with the 5070 Ti. You might want to try your current setup to see how it performs first. The extra L3 cache in the 5600 and higher could help improve things, but if you're eyeing an AM5 upgrade soon, it might not be worth buying a new CPU yet. Just see how it runs for now!
For what it's worth, the 5800 XT is still among the best CPUs for AM4. But the 5700X3D and 5800X3D really shine when it comes to gaming performance, although you might have to look for them used since new ones can be overpriced. Just a thought—if your motherboard is still PCIe gen 3, it might make sense to consider a full upgrade to AM5 in the near future.
Have you considered the Ryzen 5 5600X or the Ryzen 7 5700X3D? Those are solid choices for your setup, balancing performance and cost. It really comes down to which one fits your budget and performance needs better!
Can you explain the difference between the 5600X and the 5700X3D? I’m new to this whole CPU thing.
I’m currently using a B450M K motherboard. I’m looking into upgrading my RAM and CPU, but only if there's no good alternative. I noticed some performance differences with PCIe 4.0 in games, but they were pretty minimal.
