Just Built My First PC, But It’s Running Way Too Slow!

Hey everyone! I just finished building my first PC, and after a tense installation process and downloading Windows 11, I was really excited to start using it. However, I was disappointed to find that when I tried to run a game called PEAK, it was only hitting 5 FPS, which seems way off considering my setup cost around $2000! I think I might have missed some important steps. Here's my parts list:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken 240 78.02 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2 ATX AM5 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory
Storage: Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 5.0 X2 NVME Solid State Drive
Storage: Western Digital Blue 2 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: MSI SHADOW 3X OC GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB Video Card
Case: Fractal Design North XL ATX Full Tower Case
Power Supply: Corsair RM850e (2025) 850 W Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Here's what I've done so far:
1. Built the PC (quick note: my AIO cooler isn't correctly oriented. Do I need to fix it physically or can it be changed in settings?)
2. Plugged everything in and had an HDMI issue that took a while to troubleshoot, but now I'm using a DisplayPort cable.
3. Downloaded Windows.
4. Updated drivers from Gigabyte, and there are no more updates for the CPU.

Why is my computer struggling with such a basic game? Any advice would really help!

Did you enable AMD Expo in your BIOS? It’ll help ensure your RAM runs at its top speed of 6000MT/s. That could really improve your performance!

I'll check that out! Let me know if you find anything else while I'm at it.

Just a heads up, when you mentioned needing a VGA cable, did you mean a DisplayPort? VGA is super outdated and shouldn't be used with modern GPUs.

Yeah, that was a slip-up. Thanks for catching that! Still getting used to all the terms.

Make sure you've installed the graphics drivers for your GPU. Your build looks fantastic, so the drivers are probably the missing piece!

Thanks! I'll definitely get on that.
