Hey folks! I just got a new SIM card (it's a recycled number), and I'm trying to sign up for Telegram with it. However, when I enter my number, I keep getting a message that says, "Code sent to another device." It's kind of puzzling since this is my number now, and I don't have any other devices connected to Telegram. I've never used this number on Telegram before. I suspect it used to belong to someone else, but it's been at least three years since that happened. I thought Telegram would automatically delete inactive accounts after a while. Also, I can't choose to receive the code via SMS. Has anyone else faced this issue? Is there a workaround to get Telegram to send the code via SMS? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

It sounds like you've run into a common problem. Are you trying to register through Telegram Web? Back in the day, I experienced something similar. The mobile app usually prompts you for SMS but if the account is still tied to someone else's device, you might not be able to access it without their info. If you get into that account, you'd be able to see their contacts, which is not ideal. Have you thought about getting a new, non-recycled number? That could save you the headache.
You might want to try uninstalling the app and reinstalling it to see if that helps. Sometimes a fresh install can clear up issues like this. Let me know if it works!
I tried that, but unfortunately, it didn't solve the issue.
Yeah, I've considered it. Just worried about the SMS costs since a friend mentioned it can be expensive for Telegram messages in Algeria.
