I'm refreshing my old laptop with a 256GB SSD and a 1TB HDD, and I've got a new 1TB SSD. My plan is to first transfer my data from the SSD to the HDD, then replace the SSD with the new one and move the data back from the HDD to the new SSD. I'm not concerned about speed, I just need to know if this process could corrupt my Windows 11 Pro or result in any lost files.

I’ve used Clonezilla dozens of times and haven’t lost data yet, but it’s wise to ensure BitLocker is turned off on the drive before cloning. It helps avoid complications during the process!
Cloning makes a 1:1 copy, so your data should be safe. However, it's not guaranteed everything will work perfectly right away. Clonezilla is generally reliable, but I'd recommend waiting to delete or format your old smaller drive until you can boot from the new one successfully.
What’s BitLocker and is it related to my current 256GB SSD?
