I'm building my first PC and found a used Ryzen 7 3700X for just $85 on Jawa. While I know the R5 5600X is superior, it's priced around $120 lately. My budget is between $750 and $800, and I want to pair it with an RTX 3070. Should I grab the Ryzen 7 3700X now, or hold out for a better deal on a different CPU?

Honestly, you could do a lot better! There's a great video from a PC builder showing an $800 build that's really modern. Just adjust it for your GPU and it should work great!
The Ryzen 7 3700X will be a solid match with your RTX 3070, so you shouldn't have any issues running most games well.
For the price, the 3700X isn't a bad deal, but if you can find an Intel CPU from the same release year at a similar price, it might be worth comparing! Keep in mind, AMD started really outperforming Intel in the gaming space with the 7000 and 9000 series.
I'm really not considering any Intel CPUs, though.
