Help! MSI PRO B660 and i5-13600K Performance Issues

Hey everyone! I've been facing some weird stutters and hitches while gaming lately, even though my FPS looks great. Recently, while playing the Oblivion Remaster, I noticed that the "show VRAM" setting indicates 0/0 VRAM usage. The game runs smoothly until I move the camera, at which point it seems to freeze for a moment. I've got a few things on my mind: I haven't updated my BIOS since November 2022, and I found out the Intel site doesn't list the B660 as compatible with the i5-13600K, though I've received conflicting information about that. Do you think I should update the BIOS first to see if it makes a difference, or should I look into getting a new motherboard? I'm not very tech-savvy and I'm wondering if my i5-13600K and AMD RX 7900 XT are pushing this motherboard too hard. Any advice would be awesome!

The B660 does support the 13600K, so that’s not the problem. Try the BIOS update first, and also check if your graphics drivers are up to date or consider doing a clean install using DDU. If your GPU is new, it should handle things fine.

Just to double-check, is your monitor connected directly to your GPU? That could definitely cause issues if it isn’t.

Definitely update your BIOS! The i5-13600K is definitely supported by the B660, and the GPU shouldn’t be the issue either. It makes sense to keep your BIOS up to date, especially since you’ve got a 13th gen CPU. Don’t forget to enable XMP after the update! Also, make sure you're using the latest Adrenaline driver for your graphics card.
