Help! Windows 11 Update Causing Blue Screens

I tried to update my laptop to Windows 11 last night, but when I shut it down, it instead started an update before shutting down. Now, this morning, I keep encountering blue screens. Each time, Windows tries to update, then I get a message saying it's "Undoing changes made to your computer". This process takes about 10 to 20 minutes before I get a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION stop code and an Ntfs sys failure. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm not sure what to do next. Any suggestions?

It sounds like your laptop can't complete the update due to a conflict, possibly with driver issues or disk settings. First off, make sure you have a backup of your important data. If possible, boot into Safe Mode to access your system without the usual drivers loaded. From there, you might want to check for dump files in C:WindowsMinidump, as these files can help diagnose the blue screen errors more precisely. Once you locate the dump files, you can upload them to a sharing service for further analysis. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the advice! I'll try Safe Mode and see if I can find those dump files.

When updating like that, it’s not uncommon to run into some hiccups. If you can't get into Windows at all, you might need to consider creating a bootable USB drive with the Windows installation media to either repair your current installation or do a clean install. Just make sure you have everything backed up first, as a clean install will erase your files!

I was afraid of that! I’ll see if I can back up the data first, just to be safe.
