What’s the Best Way to Preorder an iPhone for Release Day?

I'm gearing up to get the iPhone 17 Pro Max as it releases soon, and I'm trying to sort out the preorder process. The last time I preordered, for the iPhone 12 Pro Max, I faced a screen freeze on the app. I ended up buying it online for pickup the next day. I've heard that using the app is the best way to secure a preorder. Should I force quit the app if it gets stuck again, or is it better to wait it out? I'm excited about this new phone and want to ensure I do everything right to get it on launch day!

I'm part of the device upgrade program, which lets me set up my preorder in advance. You can check the app after the 17 is officially announced to see if you'll have that option. If not, just log in right when preorders go live and be patient! The app can get super busy with everyone trying to order at once.

Honestly, preordering is so much more straightforward now than it used to be. I usually just set an alarm, open the Apple Store app when preorders start, and place my order for either delivery or pickup on release day. Super easy!

I've learned to avoid preordering right on release day. Those early devices can sometimes have issues since they haven't had time to iron out the bugs. Waiting a few weeks might save you from getting a defective unit!

That might not be true for the iPhone. The hardware changes aren't usually drastic, so I think it's safe to preorder.

You have options! You can either preorder online or reserve one for in-store pickup and just pay when you pick it up. If you're in the UK, the link for reservations is https://reserve-prime.apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/ just in case that helps!
