What’s the Best Gaming PC I Can Build for Under $600?

I'm looking to put together a gaming PC that can run games like Fortnite, Rocket League, and Minecraft at 144 FPS on low settings. It would be great if it could also handle NBA 2K25. I prefer gaming on PC over consoles like the PS5, mainly because most of my friends game on PC too, and I enjoy Java Minecraft. I'm planning to save up until Black Friday or Cyber Monday to buy the parts and assemble it. I'd love any suggestions!

Here's a PC build I found on PCPartPicker for around $600. It might be tough with that budget, so if possible, consider saving a bit more. Doubling your budget would greatly improve your options for better performance.

Thanks for the tip! If I did double my budget, would it make that much of a difference in terms of running shooter games at 144 FPS on low settings?

Consider aiming for a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU paired with a used 3060 GPU if you can find it. That combo should get you pretty close to your FPS goals. Also, buying some parts used might help stay within your budget.

That's a solid suggestion! Just keep in mind that hitting 144 FPS consistently might be tricky, especially at 1080p. You might want to look into finding a prebuilt with a good PSU and fans, then upgrade the RAM and SSD — that could be a good strategy.

Check out the pinned post on the subreddit for some budget builds. There’s one that’s around $600-$650 that could be helpful. Just make sure to consider the GPU; that's the toughest part to find in your budget right now.

Got it! I’ll check that out. I’m hoping to find a decent deal during sales.
